(Freedom.news) “That’s horrifying. That’s not the way our democracy works. We’ve been around 240 years. We’ve had free and fair elections and we’ve accepted the outcomes when we may not have liked them and that is what must be expected of anyone standing on a debate stage during a general election.”
That was Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during her final debate with GOP nominee Donald J. Trump after the later said he would keep the country “in suspense” about whether he would accept the election night results immediately.
“And let’s be clear about what he’s saying and what he means. He’s denigrating—he’s talking down our democracy. I for one am appalled that somebody who is the nominee of one of our major two parties would take that kind of position,” Clinton added, for good measure.
Trump was referencing multiple reports – some even touted by the Clinton campaign itself – that vote-tampering and, potentially, hacking of electronic balloting machines, could take place on Nov. 8. None of that happened, but at the time, neither Trump nor Clinton knew that would end up being the case.
Well, that that then. Something happened between then and now: Trump won the election and now, it’s Clinton, the Democrat, who won’t accept the election results – meaning she is the one who is now “talking down our democracy” – along with the other sore loser, Green Party nominee Dr. Jill Stein. Both of these candidates are now enjoining efforts to force vote recounts of three battleground states Trump won: Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, expensive efforts that will only serve to undermine President-elect Trump and our political system in general.
The election results of these states have already been certified. There is absolutely no good reason to recount them – save for the fact that Stein and Clinton would rather imperil the country by de-legitimizing its political system out of unhinged, irrational hatred of Trump and the Republican Party in general.
This should not be allowed. The hypocrisy of Clinton and the pathetic Democratic Party to which she clings is bad enough, but the potential long-term damage to the presidency itself is incalculable – and not worth the risk. If she had won and Trump was challenging the results of certified balloting in any state, our position would be the same: Accept it and move on.
But Clinton – who has now lost twice in her bid for the White House – won’t do that. This ridiculous recount push proves beyond any shadow of doubt that she doesn’t give a damn about anything but power for the sake of having power.
For the record, Mrs. Clinton, we don’t care one way or the other if you go away mad. We just want you and your family to go away. You are a cancer on the ass of our body politic, and politically excising you would be the best thing ever for our country.
And take Jill Stein with you.
